A generation ago owning a pub was like owning a gold mine — it offered generous income, social status and an enviable lifestyle. Australian society and pub culture has changed significantly in the past 20 years, and it is precisely the relative decline in fortunes of the nation's hotels that makes AHM's continued success so compelling.
In simple terms, the AHM business model is based around developing under-performing venues to achieve their full potential. By using venue promotion and operating expertise, we gain a remarkable opportunity to increase operating revenues, whilst simultaneously improving operating margins.
On a more personal note, the community involvement and the privilege of developing young staff to achieve their full potential is immensely rewarding. Many talented and vibrant people continue to drive the business with their energy, creativity and dedication.
aboutdean's story
As a 21 year old, Dean developed and managed Hollywood's Pizza in Wangaratta and subsequently opened Pizza Haven franchises in Albury, Wagga Wagga and Mackay, Queensland — with Wagga achieving the highest turnover of all Pizza Haven stores in Australia.
He later co-founded and operated the extremely successful Bridie O'Reilly's and Elephant & Wheelbarrow chain of hotels throughout Australia. Having grown these ventures from concept, Dean accepted a lucrative trade-sale offer from a major brewing company in 2004.
Dean was a co-founder and Director of VodkaO — Australia's 3rd top selling Vodka brand which was founded in 2005. In August, 2017 Dean was instrumental in the sale of the brand to Asahi.
Dean’s latest project involves harbouring home grown brewing talent by building a brewery in the new Docklands precinct, ‘The District’. He is creating a new beer brand which is planned to be launched in 2018.
Dean is also an avid race car driver, competing successfully in both the Carrera Cup and GT Championships and is a two-time winner of the Tag Heuer Championship. Dean is currently racing a Porsche 991 Cup Car in various national and international endurance races.
In 2017 Dean won the Bathurst 12 hour, Class B in a Porsche Carrera Cup car and also won the Philip Island Carrera Cup round on 26th May. These achievements are testament to Dean’s credo that if you’re prepared, focussed and dedicated you can achieve anything
